A home is meant to protect you. In the early 20th century, washerwomen would wear a house-shaped ring to indicate her social status and protect herself on her way down to the river.
If only today we could use our house to physically shield ourselves, just as our own house should provide psychological protection in whatever we do.
The house ring is designed to remind myself throughout the day where I come from and where I am headed and to ensure I can defend myself against anyone who blocks my safe journey home.
